Story 1:

Historical background: residential school 1939. Claudia is a 9 year old girl in a happy family.

 

September 1939

One day in a peaceful home, a police officer bangs on the door and takes Claudia away. She gets enrolled into a residential school. Her hair got chopped off and was forced into uncomfortable clothes. She meets a friend named Audrey and she starts explaining how life is in the school to her. It's dawn and The workers in the school walk the students to their beds. CLaudia ends up sleeping in the most uncomfortable bed. Not even a day at the school and she starts getting yelled at by the teachers and starts getting spanked. She witnesses children being abused by the teachers everyday. Days go by and it’s very repetitive . She could not handle this anymore. A month later she and her friend started discussing something. Her and her friend are planning to escape. IT takes days for them to plan out their escape. And one day, they wait till everyone is asleep. They pretend to sleep in their beds. Its 2am in the morning and they plan to build a boat with sticks of wood 

They take 3 hours to build the boat, hide the boat near the forest and quickly get back in bed before 5 am. They both wait till the next night for their chance. AT 2am again, they sneak out of the school and bring out their boat. They both get on the boat and it goes well for the first half hour. Unfortunately the boat starts leaking and starts to sink. Audrey can't swim so she can't breathe. Claudia gets back to shore safely but Audrey unfortunately RIP.

Story: 

It's 1939. A girl named Charlotte is reading a book about the first nations history to her baby sister and suddenly a white police officer knocks on the door and takes Charlotte away from her family. She gets enrolled into a residential school in the middle of nowhere. Her long hair gets chopped off and is forced to wear an uncomfortable uniform. She meets two friends named Mia and sophia. They talk about their experience so far to charlotte. They say how everyone is being tortured constantly. She sleeps in her uncomfortable bed and witnesses abuse everyday. Everyday is so repetitive. After 1 year and a half, Charlotte and her friends start to plan their escape. Sophia plans to wait until winter so they can escape easier since there’s not many guards or people outside. They will steal food during night time and run away in the cold. On the night of the day, they manage to steal some food and water and they run away outside. They come across a big wall and they need to climb over it. Mia struggles to climb over the fence and gets caught by the guard and gets shot. Then Mia says “go on without me.” so then they do. They are running on the train tracks and they come across a forest so they decide to run in it. They see some wolves from far away and the wolves start getting closer. They are scared and start running. Charlotte falls and  hurts her leg. She gets back up with the help of sophia. After hours of running around. They get back into the town and go home. Charlotte is 16 at time and she is peacefully at home with her family. Then a year later during spring, they celebrate Charlotte's 17th birthday. Around winter, she gets sent to war as a nurse. She learns her nursing skills from her father. She’s on the train heading to war and she runs into sophia. She is a normal girl just on the train. She lies to the soldiers saying that she’s a nurse to be with charlotte. They’re at war and the two girls are always helping the soldiers. They find out that Sophia cannot do anything since she’s not a nurse, she gets reported to the soldiers and she gets caught. Then she gets shot in front of charlotte. Charlotte is sad. Then she met a boy named Levi while healing him. Charlotte was depressed because of Sophia's death but Levi manages to cheer her up. Levi gets seriously hurt while fighting and Charlotte could not save him. Levi’s last words are “I love you charlotte.”  RIP. Fast forward, its after the war and Charlotte goes back home. She finds her house and town destroyed. Her family is nowhere to be found. She goes to the cemetery to find levi’s grave. She finds her family’s grave beside levis. THE END.
